in this space we will attempt to share our philosophy of worship as well as our practical means in which to embody our vision. resonate church is but a youngster in this journey but we feel there is a story to be told and a testimony in all of us, so thus goes the story.
this weeks song set was centered around seemingly two basic principles:
- God is a sufficient savior
- God has sufficiently called his church to go
we began the night with a song written from within the confines of our local body. it was the second debut of a resonate song and lets say it seemed to fit well on most people, you know if it were a tee shirt.
the tune is leading up to a sermon series that begins next week called “beyond the red letters” and is based around a farily revolutionary book called “The Tangible Kingdom” by our friend Hugh Halter. the song goes as follows:
“Kingdom’s Tangible”
we are a story
a story of Your glory
for all the world to see
You’re a God can redeem
even the worst of things
we are conformation
that You’re moving through the nations
calling people to Your Son
Lord You are not done redeeming us
when we all draw near you show up here
and Your kingdoms tangible
when we lay down our lives to make things right
Your kingdoms tangible
we are Your hands and feet
with many needs to meet
You’ve called us to serve not just to observe
the world around us
we are alive
because death You survived
teach us to life teach us to give
teach us to do all the things you did
strip away
all my comfort today
when we all draw near you show up here
and Your kingdoms tangible
when we live satisfied You’re most glorified
and Your kingdoms tangible
the first worship set was intro’d by a quietly challenging video called “a life of worship” which can be found at worshiphousemedia.com it set the stage for singing with the right perspective, understanding that what we are about to partake in is a continuation of what we have hopefully been doing all week.
first set went as follows:
- Salvation is Here (A)
- Mighty to Save (A)
- Before the Throne of God Above (D) with an electric intro (Shane and Shane version) (we also played an elongated instrumental between the first chorus and the third verse in which we showed scripture from hebrews chapter 4:14-16 on the screen)
then our congregation took time to pray for the hurricane victims down south as well as time to pray for each other around the tables. following this we introduced a new song to our crowd called “God of Justice” which we played in (E). everyone stayed seated and kind of prayed through the words as they were sung over them for the first time.
the final song set took place during communion so we replayed “Kingdom’s Tangible” and really gave it space to where it took about 8 minutes from start to finish.
we ended the night with a brilliant song by Steve Fee called “Beautiful the Blood” in the key of (B)
the night felt introspective and deep which is always a joy, and the musicians on stage seem to be connecting to God more and more as the songs and the new band members find their home field.
resonate worships in hopes that worship resonates.
